The Citizen Project
Artists: Sherrie Nickol and David Katzenstein
Over a three year period between 2009 and 2012 Nickol and Katzenstein photographed over 2000 people in their NOHO studio from over 30 countries. The goal of this extensive study in human behavior was to create a large body of work that represented humanity, in all its beauty and imperfections. Everyone had a story to tell, so even though the end product was the collection of photographs, the photographers were enriched beyond their expectations by the interactions they experienced each time they had a new subject in front of the camera.
